Meetings in Slovakia

RA Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Territorial Administration Armen Gevorgyan and Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovakia Dushan Chaplovich discussed the issues regarding development perspectives of relations between two countries, emphasizing new opportunities suggested in the framework of the EU Eastern partnership.

Deputy Prime Ministers agreed that though there was a great potential for development of mutual relations, they were not on the required level. The two sides expressed readiness to extend cooperation in economic, cultural and especially educational spheres.

Cooperation opportunities in the field of nuclear energy was discussed. As there are nuclear stations operating in both countries, development of nuclear energy was attached importance.

Dushan Chaplovich suggested cooperating in the field of information digitization, informatization of communities, as well as in the field of introduction of electronic documents circulation in communities.

It is envisaged to sign a number of documents, which would serve as a sufficient ground for establishing a proper level for cooperation between two countries.

Armen Gevorgyan and Dushan Chaplovich discussed details related to the visit of the RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan to the Republic of Slovakia in the mid of October.

Mutual visits as an effective type of cooperation were attached great importance during the meeting. RA Deputy Prime Minister Armen Gevorgyan confirmed the invitation of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovakia Dushan Chaplovich to the Republic of Armenia.

In Bratislava RA Deputy Prime Minister met with the Minister of urban development and territorial development Igor Shtefanov.

Armen Gevorgyan spoke about current economic situation, economic and political relations of Armenia with neighboring countries, as well as primary projects and priority goals of the RA Government and the RA Ministry of Territorial Administration.

He also enquired about the activities carried out by the ministry of urban development and territorial development of the Republic of Slovakia, especially in the field of local self government and urban development.

Igor Shtefanov presented Slovakian experience of balanced territorial development, mortgage lending of housing construction programs, as well as a number of projects implemented by the ministry of urban development and territorial development, funded by the EU.

RA Deputy Prime Minister Armen Gevorgyan attached importance to frequency of experience sharing and similar visits. According to him the EU Eastern Partnership creates wide possibilities for it.

After the meetings RA Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Territorial Administration Armen Gevorgyan left for Koshitsa to participate in the international workshop entitled "On strengthening cooperation with Eastern countries: role of local and regional authorities in Eastern partnership and the initiative development".
