17:45 / 28.09.2016

On September 28, a drill- teaching on topic “Deployment of a temporary base of Urban Search and Rescue team” was organized on the RA MES Armenian-Russian Humanitarian Response Center’s territory.

The main purpose of the event was to strengthen the Armenian urban search and rescue team’s practical skills in deploying temporary basis in case of emergencies.

Rescue squads, that were sent to the country affected by a disaster, were equipped with all the necessary things for the first days (tents, food, drinking water, rescue equipment, fuel, etc.).

Upon arrival at the disaster zone, a tent city was deployed in a specific place intended for the rescuers, and the headquarters of the rescuers were being located, and where the search and rescue operations were guided from.

RA MES search and rescue teams, who leave for a country affected by a major disaster on a humanitarian mission, are qualified in accordance with the United Nations International Search and Rescue Advisory Group, and continue to raise the level of preparedness through training courses and exercises.
