Japan Donated 22 Firefighting Vehicles to Armenia

On January 29 solemn ceremony of donation of 22 firefighting vehicles to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of RA by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) was held in the parade ground of MES.

Feliks Tsolakyan, Minister of Emergency Situations, H. E. Mr. Jun Yamada, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Armenia, Tigran Petrosyan, Governor of Shirak Province, Andrey Ghukasyan, Governor of Lori Province, and other officials were present in the ceremony.

Firefighting cars were provided in the framework of the project for ''Improvement of Firefighting Equipment'' under JICA and intended for technical rearming of rescue squads of Shirak, Lori and Syunik Provinces.

14 firefighting vehicles, 3 autoladders and one dispatcher vehicle were provided to MES by Japan International Cooperation Agency under the same project last year.

Welcoming the guests, Minister Tsolakyan noted that it was very nice to once again welcome everyone during the official ceremony of presentation of the firefighting vehicles to the Ministry of Emergency Situations by the Government of Japan.

Minister expressed his gratitude to the friend Government of Japan and Japanese partners for targeted and selfless support.

Feliks Tsolakyan reminded that months later, on September 7, will be the 28th Anniversary of establishment of Armenian-Japanese diplomatic relations, at the same time he stated that the friendly relations between the Armenian and Japanese peoples are not conditioned and limited to diplomatic relations.

''Another fact of the long-term and unique partnership of the Armenian-Japanese friendship is about 1 billion 540 million yen donation for technical rearming of Rescue Departments of Shirak, Lori and Syunik Provinces of the Rescue Service of MES of RA in the framework of the project for ''Improvement of Firefighting Equipment'' under Japan International Cooperation Agency'', - noticed Minister of ES.

Feliks Tsolakyan noticed that Armenian people remember all friends reached out to Armenia in the days of the catastrophic earthquake in 1988.

''It is impossible to forget the support of Japan to the Armenian people in days of the catastrophic earthquake in the already distant 1988. Dozens of nurses from Red Cross hospitals of several Japanese cities were sent to the disaster zone for up to six months, several million yen worth of blood bags, syringes, antibiotics and medicines were delivered by USSR Embassy in Japan in those days. As I mentioned in our previous meeting, we shook hands with the Japanese people in the days of the earthquake and took our friendship to this day we treat our friendship with dignity and pride to this day'',- highlighted Feliks Tsolakyan.

Minister Tsolakyan, expressing gratitude for the support, noticed that through such international cooperation and exchange of experience, in a regular nature, today the Armenian rescuer is on a new qualitative level, ready to reach out not only to our compatriots but also, in case of necessesity, to our friend peoples.

Jun Yamada, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Armenia mentioned that it was in his pleasure to participate in solemn ceremony of donation of 22 firefighting vehicles to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of RA in the framework of the project for ''Improvement of Firefighting Equipment''.

Jun Yamada said that the Japanese Grant Agreement had been signed between the Governments of Japan and Republic of Armenia on September 6, 2017 and aimed at acquiring firefighting vehicles for rescue squads of Shirak, Lori and Syunik Provinces.

Ambassador highlighted the importance and effectiveness of 14 firefighting vehicles provided in May of the last year, especially in the case of the numerous fires in Armenia last year.

''I'm sure that is a right time to provide additional 22 firefighting vehicles and it will continue to promote increasing the effectiveness of rescue operations in Shirak, Lori and Syunik Provinces. These cars are extremely important for disaster prevention'',- highlighted Ambassador Jun Yamada.

Jun Yamada said that this large-scale partnership represented another example of the close and mutually beneficial relationship with the Government of Armenia.

''Concluding my speech, let me once again express my sincerely gratitude to Mr. Feliks Tsolakyan, Minister of Emergency Situations of RA and all employees of the Rescue Service. I would like to congratulate all sides of this extremely important project on the final and successful implementation of it'',- concluded Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to RA.

Then Minister of Emergency Situations, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to RA, the other guests walked in the parade ground and studied the donated firefighting vehicles.
