Earthquake hits 25 km south-west from Salmas town, the Islamic Republic of Iran

On February 23, at 09:53 local time (at 05:53 by GMT) the RA MES Seismic Protection Survey Seismological Network registered an earthquake at the northern latitude of 38.390 and eastern longitude of 44.600 geographic coordinates (25 km south-west from Salmas town, Iran) with 5.8 magnitude and 10 km depth.

The tremor measured magnitude 8 at the epicenter area.

Earthquake hits were felt in Yerevan (the tremor measured magnitude 3-4) and in the provinces of Ararat, Syunik (the tremor measured magnitude 3).

According to "Ria Novosti" news agency as a result of the earthquake there were 7 victims and more than 25 injured.
